Later on in the term we will be working on measures including capacity  and  data handling.

Remember - homework will focus on our spelling rules for that week - keep prctising your spellings and reading your books - DAILY!

This will prepare us for how we listen to God's Word and listening the Old and New testaments.

Epiphany - The Three Wise Men

Today we celebrate the Feast of Epiphany - we think of the journey the Three Wise Men took whilst following the star to Bethlehem to welcome the New King.

Where has your Journey of Faith taken you this Christmas?

Well done Holy Souls - your Nativity performances were fantastic!

A massive WELL DONE to all of the children at  Holy Souls School - we have watched and performed a total of 5 Nativities, involving all children from Reception classes right up to Year 6!  The story of The First Christmas has been explained to us in so many different ways; through music, singing and acting.  (Check out the Holy Souls website to see the wonderful pictures!)

These performances have prepared us well in our understanding and appreciation of this most special season.

As we are in our final week at school, we are all in festive spirits.  We have many Christmas parties to celebrate this week and are looking forward to Christmas dinner too (YUM YUM)!

Year 3 Christmas Party 2013!

Years 3 and 4 will have their Christmas party tomorrow (Tuesday 17th December)!
Remember, you can wear your own clothes!  We will have lots of Christmas activities and will end the day with party games, a disco and party food!!

Year 3 can tell the time!

We made our own analogue clocks to help us to tell the time.

What does the big hand tell us?

What does the little hand tell us?

What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 12?

What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 6?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 3?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 9?

Can you tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes?

How can the 5 times tables help us?

REMEMBER TO KEEP PRACTISING TELLING THE TIME USING ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL CLOCKS AND WATCHES!

It's also useful to remember how many days there are in 1 week and how many months there are in 1 year!  What are the days and months?

CAN YOU REMEMBER OUR RHYME FOR LEARNING HOW MANY DAYS THERE ARE IN A MONTH?
(Challenge your parents: can they remember the rhyme from when they were at school?)

FINALLY - how many days are there in 1 year?

Even Tom and Jerry have fun at Christmas!

What have Tom and Jerry learnt by the end of the cartoon? (Remember not to click on any other links on youtube without checking with a grown up!)

We have been talking about all the titles Jesus is known as

What does Messiah mean?

Jesus is the Messiah,
i.e.
the Prophet and the Priest and the King.

The words Messiah  and Christ have the same meaning. Their original-language forms are ha-Mashiyach (Hebrew) and ho Christos (Greek), both meaning “the Anointed one”.

What other names do we call Jesus Christ?

We have also listened to a piece of Music called Handel's Messiah. How does it make you feel?
