Year 3 Christmas Party 2013!

Years 3 and 4 will have their Christmas party tomorrow (Tuesday 17th December)!
Remember, you can wear your own clothes!  We will have lots of Christmas activities and will end the day with party games, a disco and party food!!

Year 3 can tell the time!

We made our own analogue clocks to help us to tell the time.

Can you tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes?

REMEMBER TO KEEP PRACTISING TELLING THE TIME USING ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL CLOCKS AND WATCHES!

It's also useful to remember how many days there are in 1 week and how many months there are in 1 year!  What are the days and months?

What does Messiah mean?

Jesus is the Messiah,

i.e.

the Prophet and the Priest and the King.

The words Messiah  and Christ have the same meaning. Their original-language forms are ha-Mashiyach (Hebrew) and ho Christos (Greek), both meaning “the Anointed one”.

'Rock Around The Flock!'

 Well done Years 3 and 4 for you super production of 'Rock Around The Flock'.  Your singing, acting and percussion were fabulous - you should all be very proud of yourselves!

Holy Souls School has been up to something 'different' today!  It has been a very colourful, sticky and glittery day of preparation.  ADVENT is a time of preparation for the coming of Our Lord - this Sunday marks the First Sunday of Advent.

First Confessions

Well done to Year 3 and the children of the Parish who made their First Confession this morning. You were very reverent and the prayer service was beautiful.

Year 3 Enrolment Mass - Well Done!

Well done Everyone! You all read and sang beautifully. It felt very special when you were all standing on the steps in front of the parish!

The Lost Sheep

Today we have learned about another parable that Jesus gave us to explain God's love and forgiveness.

We will be holding our Year 3 INSPIRE workshop, where parents are invited to support us in our Sacramental work...

Following this, after school we remind you of our important meeting over at Sacred Heart and Holy Souls Church at 3pm - here we will discuss arrangements for The Enrolment Mass on Sunday 17th November and The First Sacrament of Confession on Saturday 23rd November.  

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT AN ADULT ATTENDS BOTH OF THESE EVENTS!

Forgiveness - The Prodigal Son

After half term in RE we will be looking in detail at the Prodigal Son. This story is part of our preparation for First Confession in a few weeks.

Our First Confession meeting is coming up soon. Remember that it is straight after school at 3:00pm (7th November).

To help us with our prepartion for The Sacrament of First Confession, we have been learning about this important story.

Book Fair Challenge

WOOHOO! The Book Fair returns to Holy Souls School, straight after half term.  As usual, you will have the opportunity to visit the fair every evening after school with your parents, for a week.  This is a great way to increase your reading skills and a super fundraiser for the school community.

Mrs Kielstra has set us a challenge, details of which have also been sent home.

Do you have any books at home that you no longer want and would like to donate to the school?  Consider which year group it would be appropriate for and write a summary of it.

Bring the book and your written summary into school when we return and Mrs Kielstra will take a look at your entry!

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF MARY

Mary gave us the gift of this special prayer.
What other names do we know Mary by?  Why is she so special to us?

Mrs Girling has challenged us to find out all about the Rosary.  We have sent home your challenge sheet and look forward to sharing what you have found out.

This is very useful for Year 3's Sacramental preparation, as we ask Mary Our Mother to give us the strength to make the right choices and pray for our wrong choices on our Journey of Faith

Christmas Card Challenge

The Father Hudson Society is one of our very important charities that we support at Holy Souls School.

All children have been set a Christmas Card Challenge to design your own unique Christmas Card.  We have sent you home with posters with the details and challange you to design a Christmas Card.  All entries need to be returned before 19th November, so that Mrs Girling can send them off to The Father Hudson Society.
