Year 3 can tell the time!
What does the big hand tell us?
What does the little hand tell us?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 12?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 6?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 3?
What time is it when the big hand is pointing to 9?
Can you tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes?
How can the 5 times tables help us?
REMEMBER TO KEEP PRACTISING TELLING THE TIME USING ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL CLOCKS AND WATCHES!
It's also useful to remember how many days there are in 1 week and how many months there are in 1 year! What are the days and months?
CAN YOU REMEMBER OUR RHYME FOR LEARNING HOW MANY DAYS THERE ARE IN A MONTH?
(Challenge your parents: can they remember the rhyme from when they were at school?)
FINALLY - how many days are there in 1 year?

Even Tom and Jerry have fun at Christmas!
What have Tom and Jerry learnt by the end of the cartoon? (Remember not to click on any other links on youtube without checking with a grown up!)
We have been talking about all the titles Jesus is known as
What does Messiah mean?
Jesus is the Messiah,
i.e.
the Prophet and the Priest and the King.
The
words Messiah and Christ have the same
meaning. Their original-language forms are ha-Mashiyach (Hebrew) and ho
Christos (Greek), both meaning “the Anointed one”.
What other names do we call Jesus Christ?

We have also listened to a piece of Music called Handel's Messiah. How does it make you feel?

RE work - Christmas
How did they feel when the Angel Gabriel came to them? How did they feel when they visited the Baby Jesus in Bethlehem?
Don't forget your WALK WITH ME calendar and booklet!
Have a look at it EVERY day and there will be house points for those children who know what is on the Calendar each morning!

'STAY AWAKE, BE READY' - DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT DAY!
Holy Souls School has been up to something 'different' today! It has been a very colourful, sticky and glittery day of preparation. ADVENT is a time of preparation for the coming of Our Lord - this Sunday marks the First Sunday of Advent.
Can you remember why we were wearing purple?
We hope you enjoy looking at some of the crafts Year 3 have been making. You can also log onto the school website to see what the rest of the school has been up to!

Literacy - Myths
This week in literacy we will think about myths. What is a
myth? We will look at this website to plan what will happen in our
stories.
This week in maths - Fractions
Have a go at the following links to understand what we mean by a fraction.
This link helps us understand what a fraction shows:

Today we have learned about another parable that Jesus gave us to explain God's love and forgiveness.
We enjoyed watching the following short films and will be making posters to display in church during our Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Book Fair Challenge
WOOHOO! The Book Fair returns to Holy Souls School, straight after half term. As usual, you will have the opportunity to visit the fair every evening after school with your parents, for a week. This is a great way to increase your reading skills and a super fundraiser for the school community.
Mrs Kielstra has set us a challenge, details of which have also been sent home.
Do you have any books at home that you no longer want and would like to donate to the school? Consider which year group it would be appropriate for and write a summary of it.
Bring the book and your written summary into school when we return and Mrs Kielstra will take a look at your entry!

How do we pray the Rosary? - Mrs Girling's Challenge
Mary gave us the gift of this special prayer.
What other names do we know Mary by? Why is she so special to us?
Mrs Girling has challenged us to find out all about the Rosary. We have sent home your challenge sheet and look forward to sharing what you have found out.
This is very useful for Year 3's Sacramental preparation, as we ask Mary Our Mother to give us the strength to make the right choices and pray for our wrong choices on our Journey of Faith
| sorry it is the wrong way round - a slight technical problem! |
Here are some useful websites to help you complete your challenge.
