What are other Year Groups up to?
To the top right of Our Blog, you can see links to other Year Groups within Holy Souls School - you can click on links that they have been using and send them Blog comments too!
You can also access the main Holy Souls School Website from there.
WELL DONE YEAR 3 - you're getting fitter!
Our colleagues from Fit 4 Schools have been in school this week, testing our fitness levels!
On Friday, it was Year 3's turn - and you really impressed them by how much your fitness levels have grown since the last time they saw you (in Year 2)!
You will receive your personal fitness routines within the next few weeks.
Keep up with your Keep Fit at home, a remember that Mr Edwards will be coaching us on Thursdays! (I think I need to join in!)
EXCITING NEWS - COMING SOON - a new website to help you at home!
Holy Souls School has a strong on-line presence and we encourage you to learn, within school and at home, in as many exciting ways as possible. Very soon, you will have access at home to a new site that we are subscribing to and already using within our lessons. You will have your own personal log-in and will be able to access many of the interactive themes that you have already seen within school.
More news to follow...
Coming up in Science - Skeletons!
We all have a skeleton - otherwise we would be very floppy! With Halloween nearly upon us, we are seeing skeletons everywhere at the moment! But can you name the bones of skeleton? Why do we need bones?
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at our skeleton and those of other animals.
We will be using some of the web links below to help us with our learning.

We may even have a go at a skeleton dance (you'll have to wait for our science lesson for this)! But for now, I have included a classic Disney video from 1929 - The SIlly Symphony, Skeleton Dance!

This week in Literacy!
This week in literacy we will be looking at different ways to write poetry. What makes a poem? What poems do you know?
Poets write from their experiences. We will start by writing a poem about Autumn, and we will take a walk around the school grounds to find out what there is to experience (don't forget to bring your coats!)
What do you know about Autumn - think of how you can use your senses..
Click on the link below for some Autumn poem ideas. (the web link is American, so some spellings may be different, but there are some lovely poems to read).

The choice is yours...!
As part of our preparation for our First Confessions we will be
discussing Good and Bad choices, and the consequences it has on others,
as well as ourselves.
Take some time to reflect on your recent actions...Was it a Good or Bad choice? How did it make others feel? How did it make you feel? Could you have made a different choice?

Year 3 trip - TUESDAY, 14th OCTOBER - Ash End House Farm (Science/Geography)
Year 3 Trip - Ash End House Farm – Tuesday, 14th October,
2014
Dear Parents/Carers,
This is a reminder about our Year 3
Science/Geography trip. We are all very
excited and looking forward to learning what the farm has to offer.
May we remind you that your child needs to be in
school no later than 8.40a.m.
(in time to prepare for our journey) - (our coach will be leaving at 9.05a.m.)
School uniform is not necessary, however, due to
the time of year we do advise that you send your child in suitable, warm-weather
outdoor clothing; including waterproof coat and suitable footwear (the farm can
become muddy and chilly).
Your child will also need a suitable packed lunch (no
yoghurt or packets of sweets) (in
a labelled carrier bag, no cutlery - for easy disposal), and a drink (non-fizzy) (preferably in
a bottle for easy disposal) – please remember, time at the farm is limited and
we are promoting healthy eating!
Please DO
NOT send your child with any additional money as there is no tuck/souvenir shop
available during this trip.
We aim to arrive back to school by 3p.m. - traffic
permitting (the school office will be kept informed as to our return journey).
May we ask that if your child suffers from travel sickness that you please inform
us as soon as possible.
If your child is registered with school medical needs for an inhaler,
this will be taken with us.
Thank you,
Year 3 Staff
