Holy Souls House Saints

There are many ways in which your child can receive rewards and merits in Houl Souls School.  One of them is through the whole school House Saint system, where children are assigned a Saint group which will stay with them throughout their time at the school.

Your child will have been assigned a different House Saint from their time in Year 2.  There is a reminder of your child's House Saint group in the front of their reading diary.

As part of an ongoing project, we have asked the children to research their House Saint: How did they serve God?; What are they the Patron Saint of?; What are their Feast Days...and any other information and art work.  Any information brought in will be included in the Year3 House Saint portfolio, and will be referred to throughout the Year.

Perhaps you were assigned a House Saint when you were at school?  This is a great acitivity for you to work with your child at home, as we make our Sacramental Preparations in Year 3.

Who is your House Saint?

St Bernadette? St Catherine? St John? St Francis?

Year 3 Saint - St. John the Baptist

Year 3 is proud to celebrate the life and serving of St. John the Baptist.

It would be fantastic if you could contribute towards our Year 3 portfolio of St. John by sending in any art work or research you have managed to create.  What do you know about him already?  What else can you find out about him? Why is he so important in our lives?

Year 3 Parents Briefing - Thursday 11th September 3.15pm

A quick reminder that you are invited to attend the Year 3 Parents Briefing in the school hall, on Thursday 11th September at 3.15pm.  We will outline how Year 3 works and remind you of the expectations of attending Holy Souls School.

We look forward to meeting all of you then!

Welcome to Year 3 2014-2015!

Welcome to Year 3 Blog!  Sorry it has taken so long to get started.

Just a few reminders so far.....

Spellings and Reading
Keep practising your spellings every night and read your reading books!  Progress is checked daily in school.
Spelling tests are on Mondays and new spellings are also given for the week.

Times tables
Keep practising your times tables - x2, x5, x10, x3, x4 at the moment!   Times tables are tested on Monday mornings! How many different ways can you practise them?

Homework
Literacy homework is set on a Thursday and Maths homework is set on a Friday.  All homework is to be completed and sent in for the following Tuesday.

PE
Year 3 have PE on Friday afternoons.  It is best that your PE remains in school each week and we will send it home at the end of every half term for washing!

As always, all of the Year 3 Team will gladly answer any of your queries - please try to keep them for the afternoon pick up of your child, as mornings can be pretty hectic!

Here's to a great year everyone!

May Procession - Mary Our Mother

MAY IS THE MONTH OF MARY

On Friday, 23rd May, Holy Souls School will be celebrating a special day devoted to Our Holy Mother, Mary.  We will be involved in many activities to understand Mary's love for us all.

We will be using the above video in class, along with our Rosary bracelets we have made, during our prayer service.  We ask Mary to guide us and give us strength in times of need and will be sharing any special intentions together.

During the afternoon, the whole school will gather and take part in a special procession.

Please try to remember to bring some flowers to school so we can really brighten this occasion.

Holy Communion 2014!

Congratulations to Year 3 and the Children of the Parish on making your First Holy Communion over the past 2 weeks!
You all prepared so well and suppported each other with love and joy.  All three masses were beautiful and I know that your grown ups, the staff of  Holy Sousl School, and Fr. David and Fr. Craig all felt overwhelmed by them!
Be very proud of yourselves, and may you continue your Faith Journey with the strength and reverence you have shown.

God bless you!
